Description: Headquartered on a 22-acre campus in Ontario and fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, Baycrest is developing and providing innovations in aging and brain health.
Baycrest combines a comprehensive system of care for aging patients, one of the world’s top research institutes in cognitive neuroscience, dedicated centres focused on mitigating the impact of age-related illness and impairment, and unmatched global knowledge exchange and commercialization capacity.
The Community Day Centre for Seniors is comprised of two programs, each of which provides structured activities:
The Freeman Family Day Centre serves the well elderly and physically frail, as well as seniors with mild cognitive impairment. This program provides stimulation and a renewed sense of independence for isolated or lonely seniors who are living in the community. Hours of operation: Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Samuel Lunenfeld Mountainview Club serves moderately to severely cognitively impaired elderly. In partnership with the Brain Health Centre Clinics, it also provides specialized programs and environmental support to meet the individual needs of those living in the community with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) or frontal lobe disturbance. The FTD program includes behaviour management techniques and clinical rounds with a medical team. Hours of operation: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
