Group Name: Canadian Marfan Association

Description: The Canadian Marfan Association (CMA) is a national charitable organization dedicated to saving lives and helping Marfan patients live a good quality of life. They are an association in Canada helping Marfan patients and the most reliable source for current and accurate information about Marfan syndrome. The CMA was founded in 1986 by Elizabeth McHenry and Marfan patients and physicians who saw a critical need for Marfan syndrome awareness, education and support.

If you would like to speak to someone who has Marfan syndrome or is affected by the condition the CMA can try and put you in touch with someone who may be going through some of the same issues or experiences. In the past we have put the following people together:

  • someone facing heart surgery
  • teenagers who wanted to speak to someone their own age.
  • parents of an affected child

When: The GTA meetings usually take place at Metro Hall. Please e-mail Lisa regarding the dates. There are also peer support meetings in Kingston, Durham and York region for Ontario.
