Group Name: Toronto Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
Description: Toronto PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is a volunteer-run, registered charitable organization. Through support, education and advocacy we work to create a more accepting society for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and their families, friends and allies. Toronto Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, intersex, queer and questioning persons, their families and friends through:
- Support, to cope with an adverse society, and
- Education, to enlighten an ill-informed public in order to end discrimination and secure equal rights.
- Toronto PFLAG provides opportunities for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of all human beings.
Our monthly support meetings offer a warm and caring atmosphere for you to hear about the experiences of others, share your own, and grow in your understanding of sexual and gender diversity. All discussions are confidential, and many people come at first to listen and not to talk. We welcome LGBTQ individuals as well as their parents, family members and friends. There is no fee to attend a meeting – it’s completely free. You do not have to register in advance. ASL interpreting is available with advance notice. Please contact us to make arrangements. The Support Meeting is also your chance to borrow a book or DVD from our free lending library.
