Group Name: Canadian Hearing Society

Description: Founded in 1940, the Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) is a charitable agency and a provider of services, products, and information that remove barriers to communication, advance hearing health, and promote equity for people who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing. CHS is governed by a board of directors, the majority of whom are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing.

Our counsellors offer guidance, advocacy, support and counselling to culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing individuals who request assistance to manage everyday life events including completing government forms and developing strategies to cope with hearing loss. We serve individuals aged 16 and over who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing and families with children under age 16 who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.
