Group Name: North York Women’s Centre – Women’s Empowerment Series
Description: The North York Women’s Centre addresses the well-being of women in the former City of North York. We are a central source of information serving as a link between available resources and the women who need them. Ongoing programs include information and referral services, free legal clinics and a variety of support groups. Seasonal program brochures detail special events and educational workshops. The Centre is a non-threatening, informal and supportive place, accessible to women of all socio-economic and ethno-racial backgrounds. There are no program fees. A commitment to attend and participate is expected. NYWC strives to ensure women have access to our programs. Talk to us about any child-minding, accessibility or other needs you have during registration. Register as early as possible to secure your spot – and please cancel if you can’t attend. TTC tokens are provided when requested at registration.
Part 1: Discovering Our Power (Winter 2016)
Participants will gain an understanding of difficult emotions and the effects they have on mental and physical well-being. They will identify personal strengths and coping strategies to draw upon during stressful situations and learn how to build self esteem and confidence. Using group discussions and interactive activities, group members will gain strength and knowledge to move forward while making connections with other women in a supportive environment.
