Group Name: South Riverdale Community Health Centre – Chinese Cancer Support
Description: The South Riverdale Community Health Centre (SRCHC) is a community-based organization that offers primary health care services and health promotion programs to a diverse community. We strive to respond to local issues and provide services in active partnership with our clients, patients, neighbours, community groups and professional organizations. SRCHC is funded by the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network.
An educational program that offers guidance and mutual support to Chinese cancer patients and their families. The group is led by a Chinese-speaking outreach worker. Health professionals such as doctors, cancer nurses, pharmacists, radiation therapists, dietitians and social workers are invited to make presentations and answer questions. Participants learn about:
- eating well
- managing pain and nausea
- how to ask for help
- community resources
- treatment and alternatives
- peer support
*** Eligibility: Chinese-speaking (Cantonese and Mardarin) adults with cancer, caregivers and family members.
