Stella’s Studio is an arts-based community by and for young adults with lived experience. Peers are welcome to join us to connect and create in a safe space where everyone’s art is celebrated.
Are you a young adult with lived experience? Come join us at Stella’s Studio for a fun-filled introduction to improv theatre workshop! Lauren Spring will be offering an introductory workshop on Wednesday, March 23 at 18 Camden Street. The skills and tools learned and practiced through improv (clear communication, listening, trust, risk-taking, stress-management, teamwork, commitment) are helpful both on stage and in life in general. Plus, we’ll probably laugh a lot too!
Lauren Spring is a professional actor and educator. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto, Creative Director of Extant Jesters Theatre, and an educator at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Lauren’s academic research and her professional activities centre around the role of the arts in trauma work. She regularly uses visual arts, theatre of the oppressed, improv, movement, and performance ethnography in her work with diverse groups of people, including youth in the criminal justice system, refugees at the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture, veterans living with military trauma, girls and women with eating disorders, and many other people diagnosed with mental illness and addiction.
Stella’s Place will be providing a light dinner and TTC tokens.
