The Welcome Basket is a 6 week peer led intervention, with up to 2 meetings occurring while the client is In hospital and 4 meetings in the community. During initial visits, the peer and client develop an individualized plan for i) welcome basket items (e.g. toiletries, house warming gifts), ii) organizing the home, and iii) identifying other community needs such as getting to appointments and finding the local grocery store. This program has been run by peers at CAMH for over a year, and produced promising results.
This 1 day workshop will include:
- Learning key components of The Welcome Basket.
- Identifying ways to implement the program in your setting.
- Opportunity to practice compiling a welcome basket and planning the intervention.
We encourage peer support workers, consumers living in the community, hospital staff (inpatient and outpatient) and administrators to attend. Registration fees operate on a sliding scale. You will receive full certification for attending this training.
