How to Start a Peer Support Group
This training is for individuals, groups and agencies who wish to learn how to start a peer support group. The workshop will introduce the concept of mutual aid and peer support groups and will cover the process - from initial planning to first meeting - in 10 easy steps.
Mutual aid and peer support groups are informal networks of individuals who share a common issue, problem or concern. The primary focus is emotional and practical support and information exchange.
Anyone wanting to learn how to start a group is invited to contact us and register. Cost is $50 per person for the two-hour workshop. Please contact us if you are interested in knowing about our fee scale. Numbers will be limited to 10 persons maximum to ensure participants' individual concerns can be addressed.
Training takes place Wednesday February 3, 2010, Wednesday May 5, 2010 and Wednesday October 6, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
