Kelly has spent most of her 18 year career working in the Community Mental Health sector, with the last eight years in a management capacity. Kelly has a passion for program development, strategic and operational planning, mediation and conflict resolution as well as experience in the management of finance/budgets. She comes with a strong background in community development and has used those principles to build and lead teams, promote and foster partnerships which enhance programs and drive organizations. Her successes also include grant proposal funding and change management. In her other life, Kelly is a full time parent, advocate for dog rescue, and weekend gardener.
Spencer Brennan, Provincial Outreach Coordinator

Over the past 25 years Spencer Brennan has worked as an addiction therapist, life skills coach and adult educator and has managed the volunteer programs for the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, Cecil St. Community Centre, and the Donwood site of the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health. He is the co-coordinator for the Ontario Self- Help Network at the Self-Help Resource Centre of Toronto. In this capacity, Spencer supports the development of both local and regional self-help/mutual aid initiatives by providing free consultation, networking support, training workshops and resource materials. Spencer holds a diploma in human services counseling and a degree in adult education. He is a published writer and has presented workshops on a variety of topics in Canada, the U.S. and Australia.
Samantha Peck, Family Councils’ Program Coordinator

Samantha Peck is a Coordinator for the Family Councils Program. She supports Family Councils across Ontario by maintaining the website, developing and disseminating resources. Samantha received her Hon. B.A. from York University, double-majoring in Criminology and Psychology. Samantha has volunteered with several organizations over the years, including Scouts Canada as an assistant leader, the Toronto District School Board as a fundraising coordinator, and York University’s McLaughlin College as a peer mentor. After volunteering with the Self-Help Resource Centre, Samantha joined the Family Councils’ Program as Interim Resource Coordinator. In her spare time, Samantha enjoys biking, reading and watching movies.
Lorraine Purdon, Family Councils’ Program Coordinator

Lorraine Purdon is a Coordinator for the Family Councils Program. Lorraine’s background is in community development, community capacity building and organizational development. She has had opportunities to work with many diverse communities in urban and rural settings in Canada and abroad. Her special interest is in coalition building and network formation. She has been involved in many community based coalitions including: co founding the Oral Health Coalition with Toronto Public Health, Director of the South East Toronto Project a coalition of health and social services in the downtown core of Toronto and Chair of the Food Access Network, a coalition focused on food security for low income populations. Lorraine spent many years caring for her aging parents and aunt and has been a member of a Family Council. These experiences have given her a deep commitment to and understanding of the important role family councils have in long Term Care. Lorraine is learning to be a gardener and enjoys floating down the Otonabee River in her green canoe.
