Caring for the Caregivers: Training sessions for Health Ambassadors uncovered a universal problem; the people signing up to use this knowledge to help others were often not taking good care of themselves. They all knew what healthy changes they needed to make, but it took a challenge from the program to help them stop and take steps for their own long-term health and well-being.

Activities run by and for a variety of Health Ambassador caregivers have included a stress reduction workshop offered by a naturopath, a walking group, a yoga class and an in-office healthy snacks co-operative.

"The event was well attended – some people even wanted to know how to run one themselves. We ran out of time for audience participation – there were lots of questions!"

"This has been a great experience - the women have had a few eye openers about stroke prevention. I also got some excellent stuff as well, and the group seems very shocked by some of the stroke information."
