Better Living Health and Community Services – Caregiver Support

Group Name: Better Living Health and Community Services

Description: Better Living Health and Community Services has been delivering community support services in the Don Mills area since 1976. Their mission is to support individuals in our community in maintaining their independence, enhancing their social wellbeing, and optimizing their overall health and wellness through the provision of a wide range of community support services and leisure activities. They are committed to our mission by helping adults and seniors, at all stages, experience a better quality of life.

Caregiver Support services are available to adults who are grieving the loss of a loved one or who are currently providing care to someone who is at end of life, frail, or is dealing with a long term illness. In order to address the spectrum of Caregiver needs we provide Professional Counseling, Peer Support, Caregiver Education and a variety of Support Groups geared to the unique needs of the Caregiver. Caregiver Support services are provided at no cost to the participants, with the exception of Professional Counseling services which can be provided on a sliding scale. Peer Support is available for Caregivers facing the challenges of care giving or bereavement. These services are delivered by volunteers who have received intensive training and often have personal experience dealing with Caregiver issues. Individuals interested in connecting with one of our volunteers can receive weekly support and encouragement over the phone or in person.
