Toronto Fibromyalgia Support Group

Group Name: Toronto Fibromyalgia Support Group
Description: We are a group of people who have managed to live with Fibromyalgia and are interested in supporting other individuals who are learning how to deal with their Fibromyalgia symptoms. Our approach is to support people with Fibromyalgia in a friendly setting as they discover how to manage their symptoms.

To date Fibromyalgia is perhaps one of the most challenging chronic pain conditions actively under investigation in the world pain community. The most recent findings provide hope for better symptom control. The cause or causes of Fibromyalgia are still not known. Most research supports the hypothesis that Fibromyalgia is the result of changes in the central nervous system (Spinal Cord and Brain).

Chronic Disease Education & Support Clinic – Chronic Pain

Group Name: Chronic Disease Education & Support Clinic – Chronic Pain

Description: The Chronic Disease Education & Support Clinic is located on the ground floor of the Rouge Valley Health System building. Rouge Valley offers education programs to support patients living with many different chronic disease conditions. These programs will help you learn to manage your condition and prevent it from worsening. This is an OHIP funded clinic that provides education, nutrition and exercises for diseases and conditions such as arthritis, COPD, chronic pain, osteoporosis, hypertension, asthma and smoking cessation.

Chronic pain is defined as a pain that persists for over a three-month period or longer. That pain can be intermittent, occurring for short periods throughout the day; or it can be persistent, and may be continuous all day. Pain can mean different things to different people, and what works for one person doesn’t always work for another. Our education clinic at Rouge Valley Health System offers you many options and avenues to help you individualize your care. We can help you learn to increase your quality of life, so that you aren’t just living with chronic pain—you’re living well with chronic pain. When requested, individuals can arrange to meet with a registered dietitian the following day at Rouge Valley.

Where: Rouge Valley Health System 580 Harwood Avenue South | Ajax, ON L1S 2J4
