ACT – Women with HIV/AIDS Support

Group Name: ACT – Women with HIV/AIDS Support

Description: Since 1983 ACT (AIDS Committee of Toronto) has developed programs and services that respond to the changing needs of the communities it serves. ACT provides support services that empower men, women and youth living with HIV to achieve self-determination, informed decision-making, independence, and overall well-being. We do this through programs such as counselling, information provision, social support activities and programs that help people with HIV return to work.

Women’s Coffee Night
Held twice a month, this informal social support event for HIV-positive women provides an opportunity to connect with other women with HIV and learn from each other’s experiences. Call for more information (including dates and times) or to register. Child care subsidies and public transit fare can be provided.

Held three times each month, and open to all women living with HIV, including trans women, WomenZone offers women the opportunity to learn about ways to better manage their health, the importance of nutrition, and an opportunity to interact with each other. Call for more information, or to register.

When: Coffee Night is on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. | WomenZone is on the 1st and 2nd Thursday from noon until 3:00 p.m. and the 4th Thursday of every month from noon until 4:00 p.m.

Gay Poz Sex – HIV/AIDS support

Group Name: Gay Poz Sex – Sexual Health Support with HIV/AIDS

Description: Gay Poz Sex (GPS) is a sexual health program for gay and bisexual men who are HIV-positive. I know: Finally! GPS is facilitated by gay, poz men, and we take a gay-positive, sex-positive approach to understanding our sexual health and getting good sex. Like GPS in a car helps you find your way when traveling, our GPS program helps gay, bisexual, poz men find their own way when seeking hot and healthy sex.

Only men over 18 years old and who identify as gay or bisexual and are HIV-positive are eligible
We meet for 2 hours once a week for 8 weeks. Confidentiality and safety are a priority – we only use pseudonyms (fake names). As we are in the second phase of researching GPS, participants are asked to complete questionnaires periodically and paid $30 for each questionnaire they complete. There are other criteria for eligibility and we can tell you about that when you contact us. Please contact our Peer Facilitators Rick & Scott for more information.
