Description: JACS(Jewish Addiction Community Services) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to encouraging and assisting anyone struggling with their own or someone else’s addiction to explore recovery in a nurturing and supportive environment. JACS exists as an information resource on the effects that addiction has on family life, with a special focus on Jewish families. JACS provides support for any and all diverse populations and denominations affected by addiction.

JACS Here To Help group is facilitated by JACS counselors and is an open education discussion for anyone concerned about their own or someone else’s addiction issues and related problem behaviours. At this weekly meeting, family and friends who have experience with the pains of addiction are there to welcome those new to JACS and to provide understanding and support that only those who have lived through the same problems can. Here to Help is open to families, friends or anyone suffering from addiction issues and is a great resource for those struggling to understand what, and how, to respond to the behaviors that often accompany substance use and abuse.

Group Name: JACS Toronto – Concerned Person’s Group

Description: JACS(Jewish Addiction Community Services) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to encouraging and assisting anyone struggling with their own or someone else’s addiction to explore recovery in a nurturing and supportive environment. JACS exists as an information resource on the effects that addiction has on family life, with a special focus on Jewish families. JACS provides support for any and all diverse populations and denominations affected by addiction.

The JACS Concerned Persons Group was developed for those struggling to cope with the behavior of addicts/alcoholics who are in either in active addiction or early recovery. The weekly meeting uses an intensive group format to discuss issues surrounding enabling, co-dependency and family dynamics. The group encourages participants to take an honest look at their own behaviors and see how their best intentions can often make a bad situation worse. Utilizing feedback and sharing of personal experiences, the meeting allows participants to learn from each others struggles and victories.

National Council of Jewish Women

Group Name: National Council of Jewish Women – Women’s Support Network

Description: National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Toronto Section
NCJWC-TS is a non profit volunteer service organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals in the community through identifying community needs. This support group is available to enable women to meet once every two weeks to talk about concerns, share information, give and receive help and have fun.

Women’s Support Network
Women’s Support Network offers facilitated group sessions for support, life skills coaching, networking, socializing and self-development. The goals of the program are to have fun and celebrate holidays and birthdays together. Some of the women have developed friendships that extend beyond the group meetings. This program is free and open to any woman who would like to be a part of a supportive group environment.

Description: Jewish Family & Child supports the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.

The Jewish Family & Child Woman Abuse program provides a spectrum of services that include: crisis intervention, assessment, individual and group counselling, Here to Help (for children and their mothers who have been exposed to Woman Abuse), emergency financial assistance, kosher short-term emergency housing (in partnership with Jewish Women International), advocacy and community outreach education and consultation and referrals with other professionals.

Jewish Family and Child Services – Family Support Program

Group Name: Jewish Family and Child Services – Family Support Program

Description: Jewish Family & Child supports the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.

Our Family Support Program provides a range of case management services to families of children with developmental disabilities and works with parents to enhance their children’s quality of life. Case management services include:

  • assessment of the child’s and the family’s needs in order to access appropriate resources, services and supports
  • development and coordination of a support plan
  • provision of support, advocacy, counselling and education to families

The Family Support Program helps families make connections to appropriate services from community agencies, schools, medical professionals and government programs. We provide current information on resources, government funding and funding from other sources, respite care, and educational and recreational services (including one-to-one counsellors for children attending summer camp or school break programs). For more information about our services to families with children with special needs, call our intake department. *** These services are for families with children who have special needs.

JACS Toronto – Alcoholics Anonymous

Group Name: JACS Toronto – Alcoholics Anonymous

Description: JACS(Jewish Addiction Community Services) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to encouraging and assisting anyone struggling with their own or someone else’s addiction to explore recovery in a nurturing and supportive environment. JACS exists as an information resource on the effects that addiction has on family life, with a special focus on Jewish families. JACS provides support for any and all diverse populations and denominations affected by addiction.

The meetings on Wednesdays and Fridays are open only to alcohol addicts. The Sunday meetings is for addicts, family and friends. Al-Anon is held on Sundays at 10 a.m.
