Group Name: Women’s Health in Women’s Hands – Love Me, Love Me MORE

Description: Women’s Health In Women’s Hands is a Community Health Centre for racialized women living in Toronto and surrounding municipalities. Our primary health care team of highly skilled health care professionals specialize in the health and wellness needs of racialized women and prioritizes those from African, Caribbean, Latin American and South Asian communities. Our services are fully accessible and designed to address the barriers that prevent women from being in excellent health.

Love Me, Love Me MORE: Are you a woman of colour aged 16-24? Come out and feel empowered, gain skills, meet new people and have fun! Food and TTC tokens are provided. **** Languages: English and Spanish and registration is required.

Across Boundaries – Somali Women Support Group

Group Name: Across Boundaries – Somali Women Support Group

Description: Across Boundaries is a mental health centre which provides a range of supports and services to people from racialized communities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) who are experiencing severe mental health problems/serious mental illness. The centre believes in a holistic approach to mental health care and operates within an anti-racism/anti-oppression framework. Across Boundaries’ Support Group Services address individual, systemic and ethno specific issues which affect their mental health. The goal is to empower individuals and communities to take control of their health. These groups would include family and peer support groups.

Somali Women Support Group: Somali women in the area meet to socialize, support one other and discuss mental health issues. **** These programs and services are provided for those who are 16 years and older and identify themselves as a racialized individual. Persons wishing to attend must first be enrolled as a client at Across Boundaries and live in the Greater Toronto Area. There is no fee for this program or any meetings.

Group Name: Across Boundaries – Persian Speaking Life Skills Group

Persian Speaking Life Skills Group: This group provides opportunity for Persian speaking clients to learn and access other resources in the community and improve their communication skills. The group is facilitated by a Persian speaking staff. **** These programs and services are provided for those who are 16 years and older and identify themselves as a racialized individual. Persons wishing to attend must first be enrolled as a client at Across Boundaries and live in the Greater Toronto Area. There is no fee for this program or any meetings.

Group Name: Across Boundaries – Men’s Group

The centre believes in a holistic approach to mental health care and operates within an anti-racism/anti-oppression framework. In this intimate group of 8-12 men, participants are led by a male therapist. The facilitator encourages discussion of barriers in the health care system and strategies to overcome them. MicroSkills – Womens Services

Group Name: MicroSkills – Womens Services (Life Skills)

Description: Community MicroSkills Development Centre is a non-profit organization that has served communities in Toronto and surrounding areas since 1984. They provide settlement, employment, and self-employment services to individuals, with priority to the needs of immigrants, youth, visible minority people, and low-income women.

Womens Services (Life Skills)
We offer workshops that help women develop the skills, confidence, information, and personal networks they need to manage complex lives. Selected topics are determined by women’s interests, and can include:

  • Parenting
  • Interpersonal communications
  • Career planning
  • Managing work-life balance
  • Building self esteem
  • Living violence free

These workshops are open to all women in our community.
