Description: The Women’s Centre is dedicated to supporting women in crisis, distress or transition by providing programs and services to effect positive change. The Women’s Centre was established in 1989 by a group of women who identified the need for a safe place within the community where women who had experienced abuse could receive after-care, support and ongoing services. The Centre now offers an array of programs to meet the needs of women. In 1991 the Women’s Centre became a recognized and registered Charitable Organization and continues to support thousands of women who access our Centre for help.

Are you going through the painful experience of separation or divorce? This group will provide a safe environment where you can share your concerns and receive support.

Divorce Care

Group Name: Divorce Care – Support for Divorced and Separated Individuals

Description: DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone. Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they have ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you have never faced before. Most people quickly feel comfortable and accepted in their DivorceCare group. They discover that there are others who have the same kind of feelings they do—and who understand the hurt and pain they are going through.

There is no registration fee. This is a confidential group dedicated to helping people recover from the emotional hit from divorce and separation. There is a handbook to be purchased for $15, however, no one will be turned away if they cannot afford the handbook.

Where: There are thousands of DivorceCare groups meeting weekly at locations around the world. There’s probably one near you! The DivorceCare program is designed so that you can join the group at any time. You will be welcomed and encouraged. Visit our locations page to find a group.

Group Name: Catholic Family Services of Ontario – New Beginnings

Description: Catholic Family Services of Toronto was established in 1922 and is a non-profit counselling agency. The agency is accredited by Family Service Ontario and is a member of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto. Our staff is professionally trained, skilled and knowledgeable.

New Beginnings is a program with a rich history of assisting separated, divorced and widowed Catholics. The program provides counselling, opportunity for reflection and spiritual guidance as part of the healing journey through live-in retreat weekends, monthly renewal meetings and parish support groups. These services are offered throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto. It is a ministry dedicated to helping people who have suffered the loss of a loved one (through death, separation or divorce) make a NEW BEGINNING in life.

Mothers Against Fathers in Arrears

Group Name: Mothers Against Fathers in Arrears (MAFIA)

Description: Mothers Against Fathers In Arrears is for all custodial parents and their children who are owed child support. This organization will allow all custodial parents to remain informed about child support issues throughout the United States as well as become “pro-active” with judges, legislators and Congress. They provide support and advocacy for single mothers who are not receiving support payments from the child/children’s self-employed father.
