YouthLink – Counselling Services

Group Name: YouthLink – Counselling Services

Description: For 99 years, YouthLink has helped thousands of youth overcome challenging circumstances and develop their strengths to build a positive and rewarding future. We are a charitable organization offering a unique range of community services that promote mental health and social well-being for vulnerable youth in Scarborough and the downtown core.

There is a very wide range of issues that individual counselling can help you address. Here are some reasons why young people seek counselling:

  • family conflict or problems in relationships with family/parents
  • mental health concerns such as suicidal thoughts, depression, anger and self-harming behaviour
  • emotional, physical and sexual abuse
  • criminal behaviour
  • sexual orientation concerns
  • substance abuse
  • racial/cultural difficulties

Talking about personal struggles with a counselor can help you understand your problems in new ways, identify your strengths, and discuss possible solutions. Our goal is to work with you to bring about changes as soon as possible and our counsellors will openly discuss the benefit and fit of the services with you.

* Walk-In Counselling available every Wednesday
Come in to our office on Wednesdays between 12 noon and 8 p.m. to speak to a counsellor. Last session is at 6:45PM. No appointment needed – first come, first served.

Family Service Toronto – Walk-In Counselling

Group Name: Family Service Toronto – Walk-In Counselling

Description: Family Service Toronto (FST) helps people face a wide variety of life challenges. For almost 100 years, we have been assisting families and individuals through counselling, community development, advocacy and public education programs. Our services are available to everyone who lives or works in Toronto.

We offer a FREE single session counselling session with a trained Counsellor or Psychotherapist. The counselling session is usually about 50 minutes and is open to all persons 18 years of age and older.
Single Session Counselling can provide you with the emotional support, feedback and ideas on how to make positive changes in your life. Each counselling session is treated like a distinct counselling session with no expectation that you come back for a subsequent session. At the Walk-In you may receive handouts specific to your particular concern (e.g. communication tips on dealing with conflict, working with your anger in a positive way, thought records to monitor thinking patterns). You may also receive referral information to other community supports and resources, websites, apps, books, articles or groups). All members of the community are welcome with no restrictions based on age or address. *** No appointment or referral is required. Counselling is offered in English. Some of our counsellors are fluent in other languages (French, Mandarin, Farsi, Spanish and possibly other languages; to confirm call.
