Child Development Institute – Mothers In Mind

Group Name: Child Development Institute – Mothers In Mind

Description: Child Development Institute (CDI) is an accredited children’s mental health agency, providing a range of programs and services for children 0 – 12 and their families. They offer evidence-based programs across three streams: Early Intervention Services, Family Violence Services and Healthy Child Development. Their approach is family-focused and we work with each child and family’s unique strengths, needs and challenges. They help them to uncover their abilities, give them tools to succeed, and support them in overcoming challenges.

Mothers in Mind is a group program for mothers who have experienced woman abuse or other trauma (e.g. childhood abuse, sexual assault, war) and have children under the age of four. The program focuses on the needs of mothers who find that these hurtful experiences are making parenting difficult. The 10-week mother-child group helps mothers learn ways to manage stress and other challenging feelings, foster healthy self-esteem, and respond to their children in a sensitive, supportive and effective manner. Mothers in Mind supports women with young children in becoming the mothers they want to be.
