Description:  Stella’s Studio is an arts-based community by and for young adults with lived experience. Peers are welcome to join us to connect and create in a safe space where everyone’s art is celebrated.  The group is for youth aged 16 to 29 years of age.

Description: Schizophrenia Services Family Support and Education Group for family and friends of someone dealing with schizophrenia. Providing:

• 8-week group sessions, where participants can meet others for support and discussion of ways to better help and understand family members and friends with severe mental illness.
• topics covered include: the nature of schizophrenia; relapse prevention; dealing with a crisis; caring for the caregiver; medications and treatments, communication strategies, the medical and legal systems; community resources.

Group Name: TAPP-C: The Arson Prevention Program for Children – CAMH

Description: Providing fire-specific Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for youth, training for parents and some joint family sessions. For fire-involved youth (ages 2 – 18)

• Services provided to TAPP-C clients after assessment

Referrals can come from community agencies, doctors, teachers etc.

Mood & Anxiety Clinic for youth – CAMH

Group: Mood & Anxiety Clinic – CAMH

Description: For families of registered CAMH clients of the Child, Youth and Family Program only. For children (ages 4 to 17) with depression, anxiety/other mood disorders and their caregivers. Providing as part of an individualized treatment plan after assessment, this service involves:

• brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation
• wait time for initial assessment is approximately 6 to 8 months

Strengthening Families for the Future – CAMH

Description: Families with children who are 7 – 11 whose parents have mental health or addiction problems. Providing prevention for children and families at risk:

• a 14-week program psycho education that builds skills and knowledge that promote positive family functioning, and resiliency. The program is free, includes dinner and childcare for children under age 7.

Description: Family Addiction Service for parents/caregivers of substance-using youth (aged 14 to 24). Providing: Support for parents including:

• 2-hour educational workshops for parents of youth with substance use problems (monthly sessions)

For: Youth (aged 13-24) and their caregivers, siblings, extended family members and community elders

Providing: harm reduction treatment, family support, psychoeducation and support groups to treat addictions and concurrent mental health problems in Black youth, including:

• individual and family interventions conducted either at CAMH or in the community
• psychoeducational and support groups (4 or 16 weeks) conducted either at CAMH or in the community

Gerstein Crisis Centre – Youth WRAP Through Fitness (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)

Group Name: Gerstein Crisis Centre – Youth WRAP Through Fitness (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)

Description: We have partnered with the Self-Help Resource Centre to offer WRAP specifically to youth aged 16-25. This program is tailored for a younger cohort, with an emphasis on making the process of learning about wellness tools an enjoyable and engaging one. After Youth WRAP Through Fitness, you will have a fully developed Wellness Recovery Action Plan and many new connections to the supports and services available. Within a group setting, individuals explore self-help tools (eg. peer counseling, focusing exercises, relaxation & stress reduction techniques) and resources for keeping themselves well and for helping themselves feel better in difficult times.

This group meets on Mondays for 10 weeks, with the optional fitness component starting at 11:00 am and the WRAP sessions running from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

When: Information Session: Monday, November 9th, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at The Gerstein Crisis Centre at 100 Charles Street East | Toronto, ON M4Y 1V3 Group starts November 16th, 2015 and meets on Mondays until February 1st.

Youth Wellness Recovery Action Plan

Self-Help Resource Centre, Gerstein Crisis Centre and the Toronto Central YMCA is teaming up to offer Youth WRAP for ages 16-25!

This 8 week workshop will provide you with the resources to facilitate your own personal growth and wellness and take care of your physical, mental and emotional health by incorporating physical activity into your personal wellness plan. In a small group setting, Central YMCA WRAP trained Health Educators, Self–Help Resource Centre and Gerstein Centre Counsellors will help you map your own personal wellness plan and assist you in seeing it through.

Information Session: Friday, July 3, 2015 2:00—4:00 p.m.

Located at the Central YMCA 20 Grosvenor Street in the Youth Room

This FREE WRAP group starts July 10, 2015 and runs every Friday until August 28th from 2-4pm.

A FREE optional workout/gym access will be offered from 12-2pm at the YMCA every Friday before the WRAP group begins.
